Acne is already a difficult thing to deal with when it’s on your face. However, it can be all the more challenging when it’s on your back since you can reach certain areas to apply acne treatment.
Now let’s try to understand what cause Backne.
- Medications. Acne can develop as a side effect of some medicines like certain antidepressants.
- Hormones. Hormonal changes in the teenage years are often the cause of acne. But for women past puberty, pimple outbreaks can be linked to hormonal changes that happen during menstruation and pregnancy.
- Sweat. Sweat, especially if it’s trapped under tight clothing, can make acne worse.
So, the question at hand is how can we treat Backne?
There are a few things you could do to decrease the chance of a breakout on your back.
- Shower after a workout
After a workout, it is essential to shower ASAP! This is because allowing swear and dirt to sit on your skin can contribute to a breakout. Also, you should wash your clothes after a workout session, before re-wearing them.
Using a gentle exfoliating scrub. This will work wonders for your skin; especially when it contains active ingredients like salicylic acid. This can work wonders by removing extra dirt and oils from your skin, helping to reduce the amount of dead skin that could clog pores.
- Wear loose-fitting clothing
The clothes you wear can cause irritation to your back. For example, tight clothing will trap sweat and dirt and in turn, rub it into your pores. Working out in tight fitting clothes will do no good for your back. You best option is the opt for loose fitting clothing.
- Keep hair off your back
If you have Rapunzel type hair, it may be causing your back breakouts. Your hair could be adding oil and dirt to the skin, causing the outbreaks. This is why we recommend washing your hair regularly – preferably before it gets oily – and putting it in a bun before sweat sessions.
Also, it is important to remember to not allow conditioner or shampoo to run down your back as ingredients in these products can contribute to clogged pores.
- Eat healthy
Last but most certainly not least is healthy eating. I’m sure you’ve heard of the expression “you are what you eat?”. A breakout could be your bodies way of trying to get the toxins out of your system.
