Exfoliation – Why is it so important?

Exfoliation – Why is it so important? | Millionaire Beauty

Exfoliation. What is it? Why are we always raving on about it? And why wouldn’t we recommend a random bottle of exfoliator off a drugstore shelf? Read on an you’ll be an exfoliator expert by the end of this blog!

What is exfoliation?

Exfoliation involves removing the oldest layer of dead skin cells on the skins uppermost surface. This can be achieved through chemical peels, microdermabrasion, exfoliation scrubs and more. Simple right?

Well, you have to be careful with the exfoliators you use.

Some are too harsh on the skin, stripping it of its natural oils – which would do more harm than good – leaving the skin sensitised and thin.

Or, if you do not exfoliate enough, your skin could look dull, congested and sad. With that in mind, exfoliation is an important part of your skincare routine.

The next question is: what kinds of exfoliators are there?

There are two main types of exfoliators: physical and chemical.

  1. Physical exfoliators have jagged particles to physically scrub away the dead skin

Our Peel & Polish perfectly exfoliates away the dead skin cells and renews the skin! Peel and Polish is a rich and creamy - high-end brightening exfoliator infused with anti-ageing and organic ingredients. It cleanses, sheds dead skin cells and tightens pores. Rich in Vitamin C, it'll leave your skin smoother and brighter after each use.

  1. Chemical exfoliators use acids such as AHA’s and BHA’s to rid the skin of old skin cells

Our Millionaire Melting Magic is a unique combination of natural AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) including Glycolic Acid. We use between 7% and 15% of each AHA for maximum results. This golden gel gently melts away dead skin cells, reduces acne scarring and fine lines and wrinkles, and fades away pigmentation and discolouration by working deep into the layers of the skin!

Use before applying Retinol MAX - it helps the retinol to really absorb into the skin. And use an SPF the day after you've used Millionaire Melting Magic to protect your skin. Check out my highlights on Instagram.

Also our Overnight Sensation Nuit Masque with acid peel enzymes to promotes a healthy glow from within! Overnight Sensation is a powerful night time peeling mask that exfoliates your skin while you sleep, leaving you fresh and glowing the next morning. With active ingredients like Salicylic acid and AHA fruit acids, it brightens, exfoliates and refreshes your cells overnight, peeling and removing dead skin for sensational looking skin when you wake!

Whichever exfoliator you decide to use, remember, you should only be exfoliating 2-3 times a week, no more, no less! Under or over exfoliating is a terrible idea and should be avoided like the plague.

Exfoliators should be used straight after cleanser, and then followed by serums, face oils and then face creams.

(Remember, AHAs are to be used at night and always wear SPF in the daytime – even in the winter!)

If you do all this, you will surely be rewarded with beauty glowing skin!
