The Ultimate Guide to Exfoliation

The Ultimate Guide to Exfoliation | Millionaire Beauty

Exfoliation. Whether its chemical or not, it should not be overlooked. We are sure it’s how J.Lo keeps her skin glowing!

But what exactly is exfoliation and how do we get it right?

What exactly is exfoliating?

In a nutshell, exfoliating is helping your skin get rid of the dead skin cells on the surface of your skin. Your skin sheds itself like a snake every 30 days, getting rid of dead skin cells that are on the surface of your skin.

But unfortunately, your skin sometimes doesn’t do the job properly and leaves some dead skin cells behind. This leaves your skin looking flaky and dry and clogs up your pores. Exfoliation allows you to finish the job that your skin started, preventing any future problems with your skin.

Why you need to exfoliate:

Exfoliation leaves your skin looking bright and balanced. It is important to exfoliate as it will allow any products that you are using to be fully absorbed into the skin.

Getting into the routine of exfoliating has its perks believe it or not. Over time, it can boost your skins collagen production, leading to tighter skin elasticity and a decrease in the visibility of fine lines and sagginess. On top of all that, exfoliating prevents the clogging of pores, meaning fewer breakouts in the future! Remind me again why you would skip this step?

Which exfoliator is right for you?                  Bottom of Form

Put simply, there are two types of exfoliators, physical and chemical and both with their own pros and cons.

Physical exfoliation – also known as the scrubby stuff:

Physical exfoliation is the process of scrubbing or rubbing your skin using a grainy product – think skin to sand.

Pros: It’s easy and simple to use. Using a physical exfoliator is very straightforward. It’s like using a normal face wash every other day.

Cons: If you are too aggressive with the scrub, it’s pretty easy to over scrub causing damage to the skin – redness, dryness or even making the breakouts worse. After exfoliation, it’s important to use a moisturiser to lock in the moisture and sooth the skin.

The millionaire beauty way to physical exfoliation is very simple. It is our Polypeptide 3 step regime that if fool proof!

Step 1: The first step is of course exfoliating using our Peel and Polish. Packed with Vitamin C to brighten, AHAs to exfoliate and BHAs to hydrate, leaving skin perfectly smooth and soft. It's rich and creamy and gently exfoliates to remove dead skin cells, leaving skin softer, brighter and renewed.

Step 2: The second step to this fine regime is our Purity Skin Serum, AKA the superfood in the trio. With concentrated orange oil and rose quartz, it targets fine lines and wrinkles, nourishes the skin and leaves it smoother and beautifully toned. It also boosts your skin's natural ability to regenerate, boosting the production of collagen and elastin to give it a firmer, younger-looking appearance.

Step 3: And finally to lock it all in, our Polypeptide Nourishing Moisturiser. This super creamy moisturiser locks in moisture and smooths out fine lines, deeply penetrating all three layers of the skin to nourish and hydrate. It contains organic shea butter and hyaluronic acid for deep moisturising qualities.

Chemical Exfoliation – AKA the acidic stuff

Chemical exfoliators work by applying creams or serums onto the skin, allowing them to be fully absorbed and then letting them dissolve away the dead skin.

Exfoliants with Alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA’s), Beta-hydroxy acids (BHA’s), retinol and enzymes help renew your skin and slough off the dead skin cells.

Pros: At home chemical exfoliants can make a major difference to the skin. It can help fade scarring and hyperpigmentation as well. It also has practically no down time since it’s as if you’re using any other cream or serum.

Cons: Like physically exfoliants, it is very easy to over exfoliate with chemical exfoliators, worsening or damaging your skin.

Here at millionaire beauty, we have two regimes available for you to pick from if chemical exfoliation is the way you want to go.

The first regime we have is our amazing 3-step Power Lift Trio that works with your DNA to reverse the signs of ageing!

Step 1: Massage Millionaire Melting Magic into to cleansed skin. You can apply it all over the face or target specific areas. Millionaire Melting Magic is a unique combination of natural AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) including Glycolic Acid. We use between 7% and 15% of each AHA for maximum results.

This golden gel gently melts away dead skin cells, reduces acne scarring and fine lines and wrinkles, and fades away pigmentation and discolouration by working deep into the layers of the skin.

Step 2: After Melting Magic has set in, massage in Retinol Max. Retinol Max stimulates the production of collagen and thickens the skin, fading out fine lines and wrinkles and speeding up the turnover of cells. With extra retinol and concentrated hyaluronic acid, it smooths the skin and breaks down pigmentation, making you look younger, brighter and more radiant. Retinol max is to be used no more than 2-3 times a week, to prevent over exfoliation.

We’ve added Synchrolife™, an amazing ingredient that actually counteracts the effects of digital pollution which can cause premature ageing and make our skin look and feel tired, dull and dry. It regenerates and rebalances the skin, repairing damage and reducing inflammation.

Step 3: And finally, take a few drops of Matrix DNA and massage in gently with your fingertips, in the morning and last thing at night, paying particular attention to the under eye area where lines and wrinkles tend to be deeper.  Matrix DNA protects against infrared radiation and ultraviolet radiation, the two main culprits in causing inflammation, dehydration and wrinkles in our skin!

Our second routine is our 2-step Restore and Brighten regime. These two exfoliating and brightening face masks are all you need to restore your skin, leaving it refreshed, hydrated and clear.

 Organic Face Mask

Step 1: First, grab your bottle of Millionaire Meridiem and apply a generous amount to dry, cleansed skin and leave to infuse deeply into the skin's layers for 10 minutes. Then gently massage it in, using your fingertips to help lift out impurities.

Meridiem is gentle enough to be used every day. It brightens the skin and nourishes it, leaving it softer, smoother and noticeably more radiant. In just 10 minutes, your skin’s natural texture will be improved – it will literally gleam with health.
